Perhaps not remarkably, companies that accommodate our personal enthusiasms seem to be doing rather well, at a time when many others organizations are having a hard time.


Pornhub, a popular adult entertainment site, reported a spike of more than 10% in traffic after it provided free premium gain access to - or what it called "an additional incentive to stay at home and flatten the curve".


And online betting company 888 Holdings said this month that its outlook for 2020 wasn't too bad, although betting on conventional sports has collapsed together with live fixtures. Brighton-based adult boutique Lust and Taboo likewise saw a last minute rush from consumers equipping up before the shutdown, before it switched to online orders just.


"We're doing a non-contact drop within the hour," says owner Tim Richardson.


He's optimistic the business can get through the lockdown but thinks his High Street store need to have been on the important sellers list - although not for the reasons you may anticipate.


"You can get a high level of admissions into hospital [of people] using things as sex toys that are not developed as a sex toy. We don't desire that."
